It is one of India's nine largest Public Sector Undertakings or PSUs, known as the Navratnas or 'the nine jewels'.[8] In June 2012, BHEL commissioned 250 MW power generating unit at Harduaganj in Uttar Pradesh.This would add six millin units of electricity on a daily basis.[9]
