Job Description
This is a hands on software development position. The candidate is expected to design, develop and debug critical systems software pieces. We are building and optimizing a hypervisor architecture which is purpose built to run our Android runtime atop Windows. The key focus areas are workload analysis, para-virtualization operations, performance analysis and improvement of the hypervisor core on machines both with and without hardware assists.
Educational Requirements
BTech/BE/MTech in Computer Science or Electrical/Electronics engineering from a reputed university
Required Skills
C, C++, Processor Architecture (x86/x64), Linux internals, GNU Tool chain, user level familiarity with virtual environments like Xen, VirtualBox, KVM, QEMU, VMWare or Hyper V
 
Desired Experience
 
The candidate should have spent 5-7 years designing, developing and debugging complex systems software. Ideal work experience would include Linux device drivers, porting Linux to new architectures, Windows kernel API’s and deep understanding of Intel processor architecture (especially memory management, privileged instructions and hardware assists for virtualization). Good understanding of Android-ism’s (binder, ashmem, oom etc.) in the Linux kernel and bionic would be very beneficial. In addition, past experience with systematic identification and resolution of performance bottlenecks in systems software would be very relevant.
 
The `ideal’ candidate would have some prior exposure in design, development or debugging core components on either of VirtualBox, KVM or Xen.
Personality Traits
 
The candidate should be able to work in a team, but without much supervision. At times, it could mean working tirelessly on very hard problems which don’t have an obvious solution in sight. It would require the candidate be able to think from first principles and break down these complex problems into simpler manageable chunks. Deep and natural curiosity and flair for computer science are an absolute must and key to succeed in this position. The candidate should be able to navigate large code bases and should be able to glue together working systems across Windows and Android. Simply stated, we are looking for a doer.
